o Canuding on Lake Nickajack Report. July 2004. Canuding on Lake Nickajack, near Chattanooga, TN July 2004. "Gone Paddling" (my nude hiking buddy) had been trying to get me and my wife to try kayaking, but recently he had hurt his arm and could only canoe on slow-moving water. So, he suggested a week-day outing on Lake Nickajack, a TVA lake just outside Chattanooga. We agreed... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o LBL (Land Between The Lakes). As Naturism continually grows, remote areas like LBL will become more popular as we exercise the right to our fair share of public land use. LBL evolved in two phases; in 1944, TVA created Kentucky Lake by damming the Tennessee. In 1959, construction began on Barkley Dam; in 1963, as one of his last official acts before his tragic, untimely demise at the hands of a maniac, President John F. Kennedy gave official approval to complete the project. Astride the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Barkley (Cumberland River) and Kentucky Lakes (Tennessee River), LBL has it all--300 sq. mi, 546 shoreline miles, few roads, 0 houses, clean water and air, 250 hiking trail miles, and more remote area than one could explore in an entire summer! For those wanting `civilization' between nude outings, five areas offer lakeside camping from primitive to full hookup, including Wrangler's, which even has a 55 stall horse barn providing just about everything but the horses... o Rock Haven Lodge, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Report. Spring 2002. This is a very nice medium sized park located about 7 miles SE of Murfreesboro, TN. It is an easy day trip from here to Nashville, Chattanooga, Lynchburg (Jack Daniel's Distillery) and the Saturn and Nissan Automobile Plants which both offer tours. George and Nancy are the gracious owners of this park. It is mostly 'regulars' but they have some spaces for transient RVers and folks with tents. We had a very nice site with full hook-up and picnic table right beside the office---very central to everything. We were at Rock Haven over Memorial Day and stayed for a total of 12 days. It is definitely one of the nicer parks we have visited... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Rock Haven Lodge Report. April 2001. I spent a very pleasant Saturday at Rock Haven Lodge, south of Nashville, TN, back in late April. Arrived at 9:00 a.m. and registered. Stayed until about 5:00 p.m. Two couples played volleyball near the parking lot, and most of the crowd attended the remote control car race in the afternoon. The track is adjacent to the pool and hot tub. There was plenty of room to hike around the grounds, and the members were friendly if you showed an interest in chatting. The pool was still too cool, but the hot tub was just right. They served hamburgers and hot dogs, plus other snacks, in the open-air pavillion at lunch time. Very tasty and not expensive. Rock Haven is an easy drive from Nashville and worth a visit. Thanks Paul for the report!
o Rock Haven Lodge Report included -- Nuding Across America. Summer of 1999. We had planned a great vacation for years and at last the opportunity became available. We have been interested in Civil War history for years and had been reenactors, written magazine articles about the Civil War and been members of several historical associations. Amanda is a high school teacher and needed real examples to put more life into history lessons. We needed to replace one of our cars as it was several years old and we didn't want to drive from coast to coast or have to rent a car. We bought a car through the Internet and were met at Dulles International Airport by the salesman and were on our way.... (click preceding link to read the rest of the report.)
o Virgin Falls Pocket Wilderness Area, Tennessee, Report. June 2004. "Gone Paddling" and I decided that we had had such fun on our nude hike at Virgin Falls last fall, that we'd do a repeat this summer. Here's our report. I pulled into the trail head parking area a little after 9:00 in the morning on a weekday and was sad to see a vehicle already there. Last time the lot was empty and we felt very safe hiking nude. Now I wasn't so sure. This vehicle appeared to have been there more than a day, due to rain grit splattered up on it and the tires... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Virgin Falls Pocket Wilderness Area, Tennessee, Report. A Thursday in September, 2003. Sunny and high of around 80 F. 8:15 a.m.: arrived at the trailhead off Scotts Gulf Road about 15 miles southeast of Sparta, Tennessee. It's a sunny morning with just a hint of chill still in the air. My new nude outdoor friend John "Gone Paddling" is there (John is 'gnpdln' on the NetNude message board). There is no evidence of other people or vehicles, so after introductions, we decide to attempt a portal-to-portal nude hike, going the entire day nude in nature. The sign at the trailhead register says it's 8 miles and to plan 6 to 8 hours, and to take a flashlight in case you get caught by darkness... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
